On scientific platforms, especially discontinued ones, the configuration in the laboratory is frequently not the configuration in the instrument record. Custom and OEM builds, paired multi-wavelength systems, and modules that each carry their own designation all produce records that disagree with the hardware.
What we need photographed, read individually:
A label photograph that is readable is worth more than a paragraph of description. Photograph it straight on, close, and in focus.
A figure on its own can send an evaluation in the wrong direction, and it is usually not the sender’s fault: the same instrument can read correctly on one beam and badly on another. So when you quote a reading, say where on the machine it came from, what instrument produced it, and roughly when it was last checked. If you do not know, say that instead — it is more useful than a confident number with no origin.
None of this is required to send a request. It simply means the first reply is an answer rather than a question, and it is why a photograph of the screen or the label is worth more than a transcribed value.
